Cajundome opens at the University of Southwestern Louisiana

The $64 million Cajundome, jointly financed by the City of Lafayette and the State of Louisiana on state-owned land, opened and was dedicated on November 10, 1985. The name joined Cajun Field (opened 1971) and the school's "Ragin' Cajuns" athletic name, adopted in 1963.
