Flag for the "Acadiana" region designed at USL

Thomas J. Arceneaux, Dean of the College of Agriculture at the University of Southwestern Louisiana, designed a regional flag in 1965. Its three fleurs-de-lis, gold tower of Castile and gold star for Our Lady of the Assumption represent French origin, Spanish rule and the Acadians' patroness, with no symbol for African or Indigenous people.
