Natchitoches post founded on the Red River

Louis Antoine Juchereau de Saint-Denis founded Fort St. Jean Baptiste de Natchitoches in 1714, in the homeland of the Natchitoches people. The National Register nomination calls Natchitoches the oldest permanent settlement in Louisiana.
