Chitimacha and French end a twelve-year war

After Chitimacha men killed the missionary St. Cosme in 1706 in response to slave raids, Bienville recruited other nations to make war on the Chitimacha, and many Chitimacha were enslaved. The war ended in 1718 when a Chitimacha chief met Bienville in New Orleans and a peace treaty was signed.
