Lafayette council rejects renaming Willow Street for MLK

In September 2005 a Lafayette City-Parish councilman proposed renaming Willow Street as Martin Luther King Drive. By January 2006 the proposal had failed four times. The latest vote was 7-2, with the council's two Black members the only supporters.
