Treaty of Fontainebleau: France secretly cedes Louisiana to Spain

On November 3, 1762, France secretly ceded New Orleans and Louisiana west of the Mississippi to Spain. The cession was not made public until 1764, when Louis XV announced it in a letter to Governor d'Abbadie dated April 21, 1764.
